MartinLesjak and AnastasiaSu

Founded in January 2013 in Graz, Austria, 13&9 is a product design firm based on the partnership between 2015 Contract Magazine´s Designer of the Year, architect Martin Lesjak, INNOCAD Architecture CEO, and fashion designer Anastasia Su. The interdisciplinary team’s cooperation with specialist partners has led to creating product collections from concept through production in sphere of lighting, furniture, floor coverings, fashion and accessories. The issues such as modularity, compatibility, flexibility and transformation are key in 13&9’s development of new products. From the beginning, 13&9 projects and products have been recognized with numerous awards and architectural publications world-wide.


Verda Alexander, M.F.A., M.L.A., is co-founder of Studio O+A, For 25 years Studio O+A has created environments that have changed how work and workplace are defined. From Microsoft to Facebook, Nike to Yelp, Cisco to Uber—O+A has translated those individual cultures into physical space. Verda’s recent projects include two showrooms for Kimball Office, and a pop-up for IIDA at Neocon. This spring Studio O+A received the Cooper Hewitt Design Award for Interior Design. In 2015 Verda Alexander and partner Primo Orpilla were inducted into Interior Design’s Hall of Fame; and Contract Magazine awarded them Designer of the Year in 2012.


As Partner of Shimoda Design Group she provides leadership to the studio teams and continues to participate in all aspects of project design. Her management and communication skills have contributed to the successful completion of the notable and unique projects such as the Steelcase WorkCafe’ which included the fabrication and installation of a large fiberglass body, the Mikimoto flagship boutique in Beverly Hills containing suspended glass cast pillars from a 18-foot ceiling, TOMS Headquarters and a glass bridge connecting a mezzanine at the interior of the lobby for the Rolex Service Center in Beverly Hills. Susan’s was recently recognized by Interior Design Magazine as the 2016 “Hip” leader in the workplace category.

Cheryl S.Durst

An exceptional communicator, innovator, and visionary leader, Cheryl Durst has spurred progress, driven change, and encouraged the expansion of the Interior Design industry. As the Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), Cheryl is committed to achieving broad recognition for the value of design and its significant role in society, through both functionality and engagement in every day work spaces and the built environment. Demonstrated by her active involvement in connecting industry professionals, including designers, manufacturers, clients, end-users, and employers, she has worked to promote an understanding of how design impacts human behavior and affects all aspects of shared spaces.


Lidewij Edelkoort is one of the world’s most famous trend forecasters. As an intuitive thinker who travels the world studying the evolution of socio-cultural trends before sharing this information with her clients in industries as diverse as fashion, textiles, interiors, cars, cosmetics, retail and food. Under her Paris-based company Trend Union, Edelkoort creates trend books two or more years ahead that are tools used by strategists, designers and marketeers at international brands.


Philip Fimmano is a contemporary lifestyle specialist, contributing to Trend Union’s books, magazines and strategic studies for various international brands. As the co-curator of Edelkoort Exhibitions, Philip has curated many international design exhibitions for museums and institutes.


Joey N. Shimoda earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. In the early years of his career, Mr. Shimoda has worked with Morphosis Architects, Peter Wilson of Buros von Bolles + Wilson in London, and Frank Gehry and Associates. On Valentine’s Day 2000, he founded Shimoda Design Group. A studio founded on a multi-disciplined platform that seeks to bring quality design, innovation and technical excellence in projects of every scale. In addition to the core staff of seventeen, the studio has the ability to assemble an optimum team of design professionals according to each clients needs. They include planners, landscape architects, graphic designers, lighting consultants and marketing professionals. Currently the firm has ongoing projects in Brooklyn, Beverly Hills and Los Angeles.


Kadie Yale is the Editor-in-Chief of interiors+sources magazine. Having received her bachelor’s degree in industrial design from San Francisco State University and working as an interior designer and architect, she attended Parsons the New School’s master’s program in Decorative Art History and Theory. She has worked for Parsons the New School, the New York School for Interior Design, the Cooper Hewitt, and the Museum of Art and Design, among others. Kadie’s work uses design theory to understand long-term trends in the industry.

GeorgeBandy, Jr.

George Bandy, Jr. serves as Vice President of Sustainability for Mohawk Group and is responsible for managing the comprehensive concepts and practices of sustainability. Prior to joining Mohawk, George worked for Interface, where he most recently served as the flooring company’s Vice President of Sustainability, a member of Interface’s Americas Sustainability Council, and the former Chairman of the Board at the United States Green Building Council (USGBC.)


Jackie Dettmar is VP of Design and Product Development for Mohawk Group, and 27 year veteran of the textile industry. She leads Mohawk’s Dalton-based Commercial Workplace, Institutional and Hospitality design studios as well as the Product Development group. A firm believer that creative thinkers can change the world, Jackie is passionate about great design and its impact on all aspects of marketing and business.


Royce Epstein is the Director of the Design Segment for Mohawk Group. As the face to A&D, Royce shares her passion and vision for design, cultural trends, and the meaning of materials in a broad context. Her role is to evolve and share Mohawk Group’s Design Vision with the A&D community, and to leverage product design with what A&D desires in the field. Constantly on the watch for new trends in all aspects of design and culture, Royce feeds this insight to all of our industry’s touch points. A veteran materials and product specialist, Royce spent two decades working in A&D firms before working with Mohawk. She was named the 2016 Designer of the Year by Interiors and Sources Magazine, and received a HiP award for Rising Star from Interior Design Magazine at Neocon 2016.


Mark has been with Mohawk for 7 years managing all of our different product platforms. Currently he manages our carpet tile, woven and aviation businesses where he is responsible for launching some of our latest innovations and solutions. Mark’s expertise is in identifying product portfolio gaps and finding creative solutions. He has held positions in Product Development and Product Management at Saks Fifth Avenue, Coach, Reebok and The Home Depot. He's the creator of Mo-Honey and our Chief Honeybee Officer.


Mark Page brings almost three decades of flooring design knowledge and industry experience to the position. Mark is the Sr. Design Director at Durkan Hospitality Carpets and leads the global design team, imparting strategic creative direction for Durkan’s Print and CYP business. Having previously spent more than 25 years in the hospitality carpet industry manufacturer and the son of a 47-year veteran loom engineer, Mark has dedicated himself to carpet design since 1987.


Michel Vermette joined Mohawk Industries 19 years ago and currently serves as President, Commercial/International Mohawk Industries. Formerly, Michel Vermette served in multiple roles, including SVP International and Business Development, Chief Accounting Officer – Corporate Controller for Mohawk Industries and Chief Financial Officer Mohawk Flooring. Prior to joining Mohawk, he worked for Sara Lee Corporation in a combination of financial and operational roles. Michel oversees all business aspects of Mohawk’s Segment Global Commercial and Hospitality business. He also manages all Residential Carpet operations outside the United States and Canada. He has extensive International experience and has served executive role in every segment of Mohawk Industries. He is also involved in the community. He is a Director of Georgia Center for Non Profits. Michel holds a Bachelor degree in Business Administration – Management Accounting from University of Quebec in Montreal and is a CPA.
